Metal Clay Veneer Metal Clay Veneer
Metal Clay Veneer is a unique liquid product that, when combined with metal clay, will allow you to create your own intricately textured and pliable sheets of silver or gold clay.

Invented by Jay Humphreys, a micro biologist in the USA who saw the need for something like this in the metal clay market, it was launched at the 2004 PMC conference, and can be used equally successfully with both Art Clay and PMC.

Metal Clay Veneer is a non-toxic solution that you mix with metal clay to create flexible textured sheets of metal clay which can stay flexible for months, even years!
The resulting dried sheet is not changed so far as silver or gold content is concerned; it is simply given a much longer working life and a whole range of new design possibilities. This new form of metal clay may be combined with other metal clay items and fired in conjunction with them, or, after firing at 1650 degrees for 2 hours, the veneer sheet may be used to enhance a wide variety of other materials, fix to glass or wooden pieces for example.

The dry metal clay veneer sheets are flexible and have a rubbery feel so are easy to work with, unlike pieces of wet clay, and the bonus is that you don’t have to worry about the sheet drying out before you have finished working with it, it stays flexible until you fire it! This makes it the perfect medium for creating a metal clay box for example, simply create a core shape, cut your pieces of veneer sheet to fit with scissors or craft knife, stick them all together and you have a perfectly matched piece ready to fire.

You can combine it with glass, ceramics, dichroic glass, odd shaped pieces of pottery, in fact just about anything you can think of, and create your own unique pieces of art or jewelry.

Metal Clay Veneer is very easy to use, and each pack comes with full instructions contained on a mini CD that you can print off for ease of use if you wish.
